Usage & Application
Many dogs will readily eat Credelio PLUS due to its smell and taste. If your dog is hesitant, you can wrap it in a small piece of meat or cheese. Credelio PLUS should always be given with or following food. This is important for optimal absorption of the active ingredients. Ensure they consume the entire tablet. If the entire dose is not consumed, re-dose as soon as possible with the full dose.
Credelio PLUS should be administered on a monthly basis, preferably on the same date each month.
Credelio PLUS comes in 5 tablet strengths, so you can get the ideal dose for your dog based on their weight. Your veterinarian will be able to advise you on the correct dose for your dog. Weight ranges are:
- 1.4 – 2.8kg
- 2.8 – 5.5kg
- 5.5 – 11kg
- 11 – 22kg
- 22 – 45kg
For dogs over 45kg, administer the appropriate combination of whole tablets.
If it has been 14 days or less since your dog missed their Credelio PLUS, re-dose immediately with food and resume consistent monthly dosing. Check your dog thoroughly for ticks. If a tick is found, remove it, and contact your veterinarian.
If it has been more than 14 days since the dose was missed, re-dose immediately with food and check your dog for ticks. Consult your veterinarian for advice regarding heartworm prevention and what to do if a tick is found.
If your dog spits out or refuses to eat Credelio PLUS, try re-offering it with a small amount of their favourite treat, such as cheese or dog-safe peanut butter, to encourage them. Ensure your dog eats the entire chew. If the entire dose is not consumed, re-dose as soon as possible with the full dose.
Credelio PLUS is safe to use as directed for puppies from 1.4 kg and 8 weeks of age. See product label for full claim details and directions for use.

Effectiveness & Results
Credelio PLUS starts to kill fleas within 2 hours from administration, with fleas being eliminated within 6-12 hours. For new infestations, fleas are eliminated within 4-6 hours throughout the entire month. Only 5% of a flea infestation is adult fleas on your pet – the rest of the flea lifecycle occurs in the environment. Therefore, it is important to also implement appropriate environmental flea control alongside regular flea prevention for all pets in your household.
Existing ticks are killed on dogs within 48 hours. No tick product is 100% effective, therefore, in tick season, daily searching for, and removal of, any ticks found is recommended.
Yes, Credelio PLUS will kill fleas present on your dog at the time of application and kill reinfesting fleas for one month. Only 5% of a flea infestation is adult fleas on your pet – the other 95% of the population is fleas in the environment. Ensure you are also implementing appropriate environmental flea control alongside regular flea prevention for all pets in your household.
Yes, Credelio PLUS prevents heartworm disease when administered on a regular monthly basis.
Credelio PLUS protects your dog against roundworm, hookworm, and whipworm.
Safety & Precautions
One of the active ingredients in Credelio PLUS, lotilaner, is part of the isooxazoline family of chemicals. Adverse reactions to this family of chemicals are rarely observed, but may include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, inappetence, itching and very rarely, seizures. Most adverse reactions are self-limiting and of short duration. If you have any concerns, please contact your veterinarian or speak to our Animal Health Consultants on 1800 995 709.
Credelio PLUS is safe for dogs and puppies from 1.4 kg and 8 weeks of age when used as per the product label. Always ensure you select the correct chew size based on your dog’s weight.
Credelio PLUS should not be given to pregnant or lactating dogs. For parasite prevention for your breeding dog, consult your veterinarian for advice.
If your dog consumes an overdose of Credelio PLUS, contact your veterinarian.
No, Credelio PLUS should not be administered to cats. For flea and tick prevention for cats, consider SerestoTM Collar for Cats. For intestinal worm and heartworm control, MilbemaxTM for Cats can be used.
Specific Parasites & Conditions
Through rapid control of fleas, Credelio PLUS prevents flea tapeworm infestations, however, it will not kill flea tapeworms already present in your dog. To control hydatid tapeworms or existing flea tapeworm infestations, speak to your veterinarian.
No, Credelio PLUS is a heartworm preventative, meaning it kills the larval stages of heartworm. It is not intended to treat adult heartworm infections. If your dog has not been on regular heartworm prevention, they should be tested for heartworm disease prior to starting Credelio PLUS. Consult your veterinarian for advice around heartworm testing protocols.
Credelio PLUS is effective against demodex mites. For treatment of sarcoptic or ear mites, consider AdvocateTM for Dogs.
Credelio PLUS quickly kills adult fleas that feed on your dog, preventing any further or ongoing egg laying, but it does not kill flea eggs that have been shed into the dog’s environment. Effective environmental flea control is required alongside regular flea prevention for all pets in the household.
No, Credelio PLUS won’t protect your dog against ehrlichiosis. For ehrlichiosis protection, apply a SerestoTM Collar for Dogs. Credelio PLUS can be safely used alongside Seresto, and this is recommended in areas of high tick pressure.
Comparisons & Combinations
Credelio PLUS has been safely used with a variety of medications around the world. For further advice, talk to your veterinarian.
Yes, Credelio PLUS can be used with Seresto Collar for Dogs for additional and complimentary tick protection. Seresto is recommended for all dogs at risk of ehrlichiosis, as it is the only product that reduces the transmission of the deadly disease from brown dog ticks to dogs. If it is the first time using the
products in combination, you can separate out the doses by a couple of days. For further advice, talk to your vet.
Before changing to Credelio PLUS, check that your dog is older than 8 weeks of age, and weighs at least 1.4 kg. If changing from a product that provides tick control, maintain the dosing interval of the original product – i.e. start Credelio PLUS when your dog is next due for their tick prevention treatment, then continue monthly dosing. However, if changing from a product that does not control ticks, it is important to start protecting your dog as soon as possible. Give Credelio PLUS with your dog’s next meal. However, if you’ve given your dog a worming product today, wait a couple of days before administering Credelio PLUS. For further advice, contact our Animal Health Consultants on 1800 995 709.

Troubleshooting
It is possible to observe fleas on your dog even after administering Credelio PLUS. This can occur because although Credelio PLUS kills fleas when they bite your dog, it does not repel them. Therefore, new fleas may still jump onto your dog, but they will be eliminated after they have fed. Live fleas may be visible during this short interval.
In environments with heavy flea infestations, new fleas may continuously jump onto your dog. Eliminating fleas in the environment can take several weeks to months. Regular flea prevention treatment of all pets in the household, alongside effective environmental flea management is important. If you have concerns about persistent infestations, contact our Animal Health Consultants on 1800 995 709 for guidance.
If you find a tick on your dog: 1. Remove the tick immediately. Credelio PLUS kills ticks when they attach and feed, so it is possible to find dead or dying ticks, or even live ticks that have not yet ingested a lethal dose.
2. Monitor your dog for signs of tick paralysis or tick-borne disease. Contact your veterinarian if your dog experiences vomiting, lethargy, weakness, changes in bark, difficulty walking, or any other signs of illness.
If you find a tick on your dog after they have been administered Credelio PLUS, contact our Animal Health Consultants on 1800 995 709.
If your dog is under 1.4 kg, consider a different flea and tick preventative product, such as SerestoTM Collar for Dogs, which can be used in puppies from 7 weeks of age. If your dog is over 45 kg, administer the appropriate combination of Credelio PLUS chews. For example, for a 60 kg dog, administer one Credelio PLUS for Dogs 22-45 kg, and one Credelio PLUS for Dogs 11-22 kg.
