Responsible Use of Medicines in Pets:
correct disposal
We are all becoming more aware of the need for recycling these days, and it can be difficult to know what to do with some items. Unused medicines and medical packaging are one of these.
Firstly, check the enclosed directions for any specific information on disposal and follow these.
Packaging that has been in direct contact with medication (including parasite protection) should not be recycled. It should be put in the domestic waste bin so it can then be disposed of appropriately. This packaging might include pipettes or bottles. Do not rinse these containers out before disposal as our drainage systems are not designed to deal with medicines that could potentially enter the environment if disposed of incorrectly.
Cardboard outer packaging and any paper leaflets can be recycled according to your local arrangements.
Unused medication can sometimes be returned to your vet or the retailer. Otherwise, it can also go in your domestic waste. Never pour unwanted liquid medication or tablets down the sink or toilet.
