A guide to treating your cat with Varenzin™
Your vet has prescribed Varenzin for your cat to manage the symptoms of anaemia of chronic kidney disease (CKD) at home and help your cat feel less lethargic and unwell.
What is Varenzin?
Varenzin is an innovative treatment for feline CKD anaemia, enabling cats to be treated at home. It works by stimulating a cats own red blood cell production, helping cats with CKD feel like themselves again.
What is CKD Anaemia?
When a cat develops CKD, as their disease progresses, they can also develop anaemia (reduced red blood cells) as a result of the damage to their kidneys. Just like in people, anaemia means the body isn’t making enough red blood cells. In cats with CKD, this happens because the kidneys can no longer produce enough of the hormone that signals red blood cell production.

Dosing Instructions
Convenient at-home dosing, Varenzin is an oral solution containing fish oil, that can be administered directly into your cats mouth.
STEP 1Shake well before use. Remove screw cap.
STEP 2Place the enclosed syringe nozzle firmly into the opening of the bottle.
STEP 3Turn the bottle upside down and withdraw the prescribed volume. Turn the bottle upright before removing the syringe.
STEP 4Administer directly into your cat’s mouth.
STEP 5After administration, close bottle tightly with cap and store syringe in the carton together with the product. Do not disassemble or wash the syringe.
Follow up appointments
After the first two weeks of treatment, your cat will then need follow up checks with your vet so that they can assess the response to treatment. This will involve taking a small blood sample and will enable your vet to monitor how long the treatment should be continued and when it can finish. Some cats may need more than one round of treatment.
If you have any concerns about your cat or their treatment, please contact your vet practice.
